✅ Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a Baroque French castle located in Maincy, near Melun, 55 kilometers southeast of Paris, in the Seine-et-Marne department of Île-de-France. It was built for Louis XIV's finance intendant, Nicolas Fouquet, who hired the best artists of the time to build his palace: the architect Louis Le Vau, the painter Charles Le Brun and the landscaper André Le Nôtre.
