History of Disney Paris
Inaugurated on April 12, 1992, Disneyland Paris is much more than an amusement park – it is a symbol of magic and imagination in the heart of Europe. Located in Marne-la-Vallée, just 32 km from the center of Paris, Disneyland Paris was the first Disney park outside the United States, bringing the enchantment of Mickey and his friends to millions of visitors from all over the world.
From the outset, the project was ambitious: to unite European culture with classic Disney fantasy. The idea was born in 1987, when Disney signed an agreement with the French government to develop the park on the outskirts of Paris. After five years of construction, the magic became reality with the opening of what, at the time, was called the Euro Disney Resort.
Over time, the park evolved and gained even more attractions. In 1994, the name was officially changed to Disneyland Paris, reinforcing its unique identity among the world’s Disney destinations. Today, the complex includes two theme parks – Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park – as well as several hotels, restaurants, stores and even a golf course.
Sleeping Beauty’s castle, an icon of Disneyland Paris, is inspired by French architecture and enchants adults and children right from the entrance. Every detail of the park has been designed to provide an immersive experience, with attractions for all ages, live shows and character encounters.
